The Porter Draw

May I have your attention please... there is a roots music movement taking place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. And I have proof of it right here on MY Indie Music Blog!

On a daily basis, I try to find the best that the world of indie music has to offer with hopes of sharing it with all of you. There are also times when the best the indie world has to offer finds me and makes what I do a helluva lot easier! This is one of those times.

The Porter Draw is Ben Wood, banjo; Russell James Pyle, guitar/vocals; Joshua Gingerich, guitar/harmonica/mandolin/vocals; Dandee Fleming, bass and Joey Gonzales, drums/percussion. The band reached out to me thru Twitter last week and asked if I would be interested in previewing their upcoming album. Who was I to say no?!

The Porter Draw is slated for an April release and will be then band's 4th album. After I finish this post, I'll be scouring iTunes and the internet for their other three. They're that good.

The Porter Draw is one finely polished album that flawlessly blends root rock with alt-country and Americana. I've had it on repeat on my iPod for the better part of 3 days now, enjoying the storytelling each song brings mixed with the rich vocals and spot-on musicianship. If there were ever a call for a revival of today's mainstream music, I would put my first call in to the this band. I mean, how many people have balls big enough to track a cover of a Bruce Springsteen tune and do it better than the Boss ever did?

Enjoy the preview of the album and keep checking back with me here and on Twitter for updates. The five songs I'm sharing with you should tide you over until the album is released. Trust me when I say this- THIS IS ONE ALBUM THAT YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS!

Project Dirty - Blue Fire

Regular readers of MY Indie Music Blog know that my musical taste runs the gammitt... pretty much anything from rock to country to r&b and soul. But make no mistake, it's all indie thru and thru. Then there's "pop" or what you hear when you turn on your local Top 40 station. That genre of music is actually responsible for my love of indie music and the reason that I bring you the best that the world (literally) has to offer from independent artists.

And then there's Project Dirty and their new album Blue Fire.

I first introduced you to Project Dirty last summer (MY Indie Music Blog - Project Dirty) around the time that their single Knockout, from their EP Act 2, started to gain traction on Sirius XM. Fast forward now to their latest full-length album Blue Fire. As addicted as I've become to this Los Angeles, California, USA based duo of Rhett Fisher and Micah Faulkner, Blue Fire amps up said addiction!

From the opening track, Blue Fire, to Name in the Sky (Jfx Remix), the guys don't miss one beat. They run the table from electronic to pop to rock to dance with their most polished sound to date. As a reference, I tuned in to our local Top 40 station here. Based on what their contemporaries are putting out there, I see no reason why Project Dirty can't take over the music industry and turn it upside down on its collective ass!

This isn't some slicked up production custom made for today's radio. This is a couple of guys who've had their turn with the labels and are doing it on their own the only way they know how.

Their single Knockout is still burning up the chart on Sirius XM channel 3. Now it's time for us to help them move up the dial to channel 1 and get them on YOUR local Top 40 and Hot AC radio stations!

Katie Cole - 2013 Indie Music Bus™ Artist of the Year

It is with great pleasure that I introduce you, my faithful readers and lovers of all things indie, to Katie Cole, the 2013 Indie Music Bus™ Artist of the Year!

Katie Cole comes to us from Melbourne, Australia, and is now based out of Los Angeles, California, USA. While she's been on our radar at MY Indie Music Blog for quite some time, it just seems fitting that her introduction to you be here and now. A multi-award winning artist, Katie was named Artist of the Year and Best Country Artist at the 2013 Artists in Music Awards and was voted as Artist of the Month for February 2013 by the Indie Music Bus™.

Whether your listening to her 2011 EP, Melodiem, or her latest single We Started a Fire from her upcoming full-length debut album, Lay It All Down, you're treated to something special that's missing from today's mainstream radio. With one of the strongest voices in music today, Katie's songs instantly have a familiar feeling. There's a charm to her that reminds you of some of music's classic folk/rock artists with a fresh update for today. Some of my favorite offerings of Katie's are her Live at Stargazer's Colorado Springs tracks. I'm anxiously awaiting the day that she goes on a worldwide tour so I can hopefully catch her over here on the East coast!

We're now just a few short weeks away from the release of Katie's aforementioned debut full-length album, Lay It All Down, set for a March 3, 2014 release. Take this time to immerse yourself in the greatness that is Katie Cole. We only have a short time left to claim her as our own before the world catches on!

Codie Prevost - All Kinds of Crazy

Happy Sunday everyone and welcome back to MY Indie Music Blog!

Over the course of the past 19 months, I have had the pleasure of bringing to you, my faithful readers and lovers of all things indie, some of the top indie artists from all over the world. Tonight is another of those occasions.

Bringing the country back to MY Indie Music Blog is Canadian indie artist Codie Prevost!

Codie Prevost hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and is a multi-award winner & three time Canadian Country Music Association nominee. He is preparing to release his 4th album, All Kinds of Crazy, on March 1st of this year. As a new fan of Codie's music, I can say that I couldn't be more excited about this!

I've been given the honor of being able to preview All Kinds of Crazy and can say that country music fans the world over will not be disappointed. Codie walks a delicate line, for me at least, of today's mainstream country radio offerings and yesterday's traditional country music. What he's been able to pull off with Crazy is to satisfy both sides of said line while putting a unique spin on country music that is all Codie Prevost!

From the opening track,  I'll Be Your Whiskey to the latest single Someday, and every track in-between, All Kinds of Crazy is one fine example of homespun storytelling. There's a genuineness and honesty in Codie's voice that allows you to believe that he's lived the lyrics he sings. You can't auto-tune or slick that up in post-production. You either have it or you don't, and Codie Prevost has it in spades!

Head over to iTunes today to pre-order you copy of All Kinds of Crazy. I promise you, from one indie fan blogger to all indie fans across the world, you will not regret it!
